Celtic 28-year-old on brink of club exit

|

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata’s exit from the club could occur in the next fortnight as Hertha Berlin look to conclude his signing, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say that the Bundesliga outfit are confident they have won the race to land him this summer with a number of other clubs across Europe keen on snapping him up.

His earnings in Germany could be as much as £40,000 after signing on a free transfer, according to the report.

Celtic fans have known for a while that the defender is likely on his way out of the club, though Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon had intimated over the last few months that he could sign a new deal to stay in Glasgow.

The Hoops had the chance to cash in on him last summer but Rodgers decided we were best served utilising his services for another season and risk losing him for nothing.

The Belgian has emerged as probably our best defender over the last 18 months and the club will need to dip into the transfer market to replace him this summer.
