Celtic have taken United States youth international Manny Perez on trial at the club, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

It’s no secret that the Hoops have been on the hunt for a right-back in recent transfer windows and it appears they’re having a close look at 19-year-old Perez, who currently plays his football at North Carolina State University.

Capped six times for the USA U20s side, word of his potential has clearly reached Lennoxtown, with the player looking to sign his first professional contract in the sport.

The Sun report he’s been posting snaps of his trip to Scotland on his Instagram page and he’s also followed by fellow Hoops youngster Mikey Johnston.

Celtic’s problems at right-back are well documented with Mikael Lustig failing to play to a consistently high level and Cristian Gamboa looking far from convincing when brought into the side.

Lustig opened up on his Hoops future last month, with the club holding an option to extend his current contract beyond an initial expiry date at the end of this season.

More competition is needed in the position so it’ll be interesting to see if Perez impressed enough for the club to make a permanent approach.
