Another good performance by Celtic was capped off with an even better result.

And in fairness, when you look at the overall picture of the Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen matches, the performances have always been there, just not the result.

But today that all changed as Celtic put Ferencvaros to the sword with some clinical finishing, great football and a little rub of the green.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s finish from Jota’s pass and rub of the green for David Turnbull’s non goal secured the three points that did look to have a nervy feel about it after Callum McGregor’s missed penalty.

But the captain never let it phase him as he drove the side on and he paid tribute to the Celtic fans that turned up in their  thousands to roar their team on.

Speaking post match, McGregor said, “You know excellent performance. Thought we dominated right throughout the game. Loads of chances. Great, great night for us. Brilliant for the supporters as well.

“They were brilliant turning out in their numbers with a really difficult kickoff time.

“So I would like to thank them for their effort as well.

“Like the manager keeps we’re a bunch of new players.

“But you know there’s a real good bond in there as well and like I touched on yesterday when you get to success, it brings everyone closer and I think the boys recognised how good the pass was actually to find Kyogo and he does what he does and puts it away.”

And you could see how much it meant to him getting those first three points on the board.

The group could be wide open by close of play on Thursday night, should Leverkusen take all three points from Betis which could lead to an exciting last fixture at Paradise to determine who qualifies to the next stage. Celtic or Betis?
