Celtic’s squad depth has been the topic of discussion for much of the season and with the January transfer window slowly, but surely, approaching us, Hoops gaffer Ange Postecoglou has already intimated that there are targets being spoken to already and that the J League will be the main source of interest.

But a Celtic called Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and expressed concern at the Celtic boss’ possible over reliance of the Japanese market and made a ridiculous comparison with the ill fated ex Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha.

The caller claimed that the former Rangers boss focused too much on the Portuguese market and that Postecoglou could, bizarrely, emulate his mistakes.

Hugh Keevins dismissed those claims and said the Celtic boss has shown his eye for talent in the Japanese market, “If  Furuhashi is part of Ange Postecoglou’s judgement, if it’s a test of his judgement, then his judgement is first class.

“But I’m sure he’s got no intention of emptying Tokyo and Yokohama.

“He will simply have in mind, I guess, a Japanese player, or possibly two but there’ll be other targets who will not be Japanese but as you rightly say, if you’ve had Nakamura and you’ve had Furuhashi then you’re dabbling in that particular market.

“The point I’m making is, don’t assume that because they come from Asian Football, it’s any more of a gamble than people who come from Portugal.”

It’s not often I agree with Keevins but comparing the Celtic boss who has a track record of recognising talent and winning trophies to a manager that had a debate in a hedge is just plain ridiculous.
