Lennon to get his man with Celtic to complete £3m transfer deal “this week” according to report

|

Celtic look to add further strength to their already dominant squad with the addition of the best young player in the country, The Scottish Sun reporting that a deal for Motherwell’s David Turnbull could be completed this week.

It is no secret that Turnbull has never been off Neil Lennon’s radar and The Sun claims that Nick Hammond and Gavin Strachan have both been watching the Scotland Under-21 international – they must be enjoying watching him play for The Steelmen because there is no other explanation for him not being signed yet.

Celtic had tried to re-negotiate with Motherwell after the deal collapsed last summer and the midfielder underwent surgery but nothing ever materialised and Hoops fans will be hoping that they can finally get the transfer over the line in what has been one of the most protracted transfers in Scottish football history.

Until he signs though, given what happened last year with pictures being released of Turnbull sitting next to Lennon in the famous green and white shirt, chickens will not be counted, especially after the way that John McGinn slipped through the net.

Are you frustrated that Turnbull hasn't already been signed?

No

Other than a centre-half – Shane Duffy remains a target – the gaffer’s squad is in rude health, especially after the addition of Albian Ajeti, if he can get Turnbull through the door then the potential departures of both Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham wouldn’t be as sorely felt.

In what must be the easiest transfer to finalise ever – wages, the fee etc were all agreed last year – it’s just a surprise that the deal hasn’t been completed already,
