Celtic, under Ange Postecoglou, have been absolutely relentless.

And that is down to the manager, his tactics, recruitment and one other special ingredient.

The Celtic gaffer lives by his mantra of ‘We Never Stop’ and that is not only down to what he does on the field of play.

He never stops looking for ways to improve the team.

Improving the team does not necessarily mean always dipping into the transfer market. It can also mean that you work with what you’ve got and improve those players as well.

Case and point with Anthony Ralston and Greg Taylor. Both have improved immeasurably under the gaffer this season to the point that they both look like completely different players.

But Ange also encourages those that he brought to the club to continually look at ways to develop themselves.

And Reo Hatate has revealed even he has been told to look at weaknesses in his game to improve upon.

Speaking in his column in Sportiva in Japan, Hatate said,  “I have been thinking about and devising my own ways to improve the quality of my performance in front of the goal, an issue that Ange Postecoglou told me I needed to develop.

“I have been playing at the bottom of midfield with captain Callum McGregor this season, and I felt that the team could perform better without me being more involved in the build-up and I decided to take a higher position and get involved in front of goal more often.

“In doing so, I also focused on my positioning. In the past, I often received the ball from the centre backs in a straight line toward the opposition goal, but this made it difficult to avoid pressure from the opponents.”

A small tweak but enough to take his level to the next game.

But it is also a fascinating insight as to how Ange allows his players the freedom to make these kinds of decisions as long as it benefits the team.

Proving that the Celtic bis light years ahead of other coaches.
