The managerial circus continues as we enter a new week and a report out today now casts doubt on whether the emerging weekend favourite for the vacant Hoops job is committed enough to take on the Parkhead top job.

Out of work Eddie Howe, dramatically become the overnight favourite on Friday night for the Celtic manager position pushing long talked about candidate, Roy Keane down the pecking order behind interim boss, John Kennedy.

However, a report this morning from the English media, suggests that Howe is “open” to a move to Newcastle should current boss, Steve Bruce, be shown the door at The Magpies.

The Toon currently find themselves in 17th position in English Premier League, five points from safety with twenty nine games played. Although the report suggests that Newcastle haven’t made an approach for Howe, “sources” close to Howe suggest that the in demand coach is looking for a club with “the right fit” and it seems that a return to the EPL at Newcastle would be that fit.

Other Celtic favourite, Chris Wilder, also had “admirers” at Newcastle and the report proposes that he was on the list but the club opted for Steve Bruce instead. With Newcastle staring down the abys at relegation this season, they could see Howe, who has experience of lifting clubs from the ignominy of the EFL, as the ideal man to take the club forward.

With the Celtic board keeping their cards close to their chests, there does seem like top level indecision, and as reported yesterday by Vital Celtic, a split in the boardroom as to who is the ideal candidate for the job.
