You would think out of all people, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer would have been consulted if there was a major tour planned for the club.
But this is not just any tour. This is a tour to Australia to celebrate the Celtic managers contribution to the clubs recent history.
Now many of you will be thinking that it’s not big deal. Why should the SLO be consulted?
Well, when the tour has been arranged with our closest rivals and that they could benefit financially AND take the limelight away from the Hoops gaffer, you would think that he would be consulted to offer his advice on what the fans reaction to it would have been. Right?
It seems not.
After contacting JP yesterday about the planned tour, I received no reply. Which is unusual as he very good at getting back to the supporters.
But the reply came this morning and it wasn’t what I expected:
Apologies for lack of response on his, it's one I need to let @CelticFC lead on I'm afraid, I just learned about it yesterday so I don't have any real details I'm afraid

Apologies for lack of responses on matches scheduled to be played in Australia later in the year, it's one I need to let @CelticFC lead on as I don't have any specific details. I believe further information will come directly from the Club abut this

So it seems that the man with the finger on the pulse of the fans wasn’t consulted on this which is extremely strange.
Surely the board must have known the depth of feeling amongst the Celtic fans about including our rivals in this tour?
Or has the board reverted to type and stuck two fingers up to the supporters and chased the money?
I’m willing to bet it’s the second option.
Celtic would have sold out any stadium in Australia without needing the help from our Glasgow rivals. The fans know it.
The board, quite simply just don’t get it.
And these Celtic fans were not happy:
JP hope the club recognise that this is very unpopular amongst the vast majority of supporters and have a rethink on this

We’re not one half of anything…unless a tournament organiser is willing to throw a few quid in our direction.

Amazing how the board dont want to be half of anything yet will be associated with them when money is involved? Dont get this at all, what is the point. Given the shambles over ticket allocations and the pety behavour why play them unless we have to? Lawwell back at his best 💰🤮

Not your fault JP but show the board this & tell them we are not MUGS as they think we are pic.twitter.com/uKSND9qtOu

Thats the thing, they dont get it

Why would it give them the limelight?
It’ll be a stadium full of fans shouting for Celtic, not unlike what we saw on the 2nd of February
Celtic do get it thats why they didn’t inform the slo and the fans who our opponents would be, they don’t care about fans opinions as long as the money pours in, all designed to help the rangers out of a financial hole and keep them alive HH
We as a club should not be doing anything remotely to help sevco5088 finances we are the club in the driving seat withdraw from this competition immediately Celtic as a brand will make extra revenue elsewhere as long as we don’t line there pockets doing so hh
Waste of time players probably don’t want to go to Australia either
