Celtic finally sign defender as deadline day end looms

|

Celtic have landed Everton defender, Jonjoe Kenny, on loan until the end of the season.  After losing Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen for £11.5m last week, Lennon was looking to bolster his squad for the remainder of the season and he will be delighted to finally have captured his man.

Kenny is a right back and has been with Everton since 2006 as part of the youth set up.  He has enjoyed spells on loan to various English Football League clubs including Wigan and Oxford United.  The youngster also spent a full season on loan in the Bundesliga with Schalke and made 31 appearances for the club.

He made his English Premier League debut against Norwich City in May 2016 after coming on as a substitute. This season though, Kenny has found it difficult to claim a regular starting place in the Everton squad as he has only managed to make four Premier League appearances for The Toffees.

The loan move to Celtic will give the 23 year old a chance to kick start his career and build his experience of playing for a big club.

Kenny is expected to be drafted into the squad for the game against Kilmarnock on Tuesday night but it is unclear whether he will start.
