“He wants to leave” – Lennon update on deadline day bid for Frenchman

|

Neil Lennon confirmed today in his press conference that French attacking midfielder, Olivier Ntcham, wants to leave the club, and it seems the player has been feeling that way ever since the manager returned to the club in 2019.

Ntcham has been attracting interest from several clubs but so far the only concrete bid on the table is from French champions Marseille, who are said to be willing to spend around 10 million Euro’s on their countryman.

When asked about the interest currently bubbling away over the midfielder, Lennon said, “There has been interest in him, so clubs, or parties are talking at the minute so we’ll see how that pans out.”

Although Lennon wouldn’t go into specifics, he did confirm that the interested club wasn’t Newcastle but “might be” Marseille. Lennon did concede that dialogue has been consistent with Ntcham over the past two years and that the player has been wanting away from Parkhead for some time now, “I have spoken to Olivier over, basically, over the two years more or less since I’ve been here. I think he is looking for a fresh start, or to progress his career elsewhere. And he’s made that clear over a long period of time and I wouldn’t be overly surprised if something happened today”
