The Ange rumours have been well and truly crushed by the Celtic community over the last 48 hours.

In fact, this site and others have been at pains to dismantle and disseminate the media’s insistence that the Celtic gaffer is a target for the English Premier League strugglers and the narrative from some quarters in the SMSM that seem to suggest that Ange would be willing to listen to any offers from the club.

Of course, this is not to say that the Leeds job is not an attractive proposition for anyone. More money, increased transfer budget, and better quality of player (I gritted my teeth typing that part) so there is a lot of EPL positives that make a move to Leeds attractive.

Unfortunately a move to Leeds ‘the club’ is not.

I mean who wants the pressure of leading a relegation-threatened club out with a transfer window as a starting point for a new career in England?

No Ange. That’s according to Tony Haggerty.

Writing in The Celtic Way, Haggerty said, “Let’s cut to the chase here: it is wishful thinking on some people’s part. Postecoglou’s crime? Being a successful Celtic manager.

“For those who want to see him up sticks and jump on the gravy train that leads him south of the border, they may have to wait for a wee while longer yet.

“Because remember: Postecoglou is nowhere near finished building his beautiful house.”

And I have to say, this is a refreshing take from a journalist (albeit Tony is a huge Celtic fan) in the media. Laying out succinctly and with passion as to why the gaffer would be ill-advised to take the Leeds position.

It’s refreshing, but it will never catch on amongst the rest of the Scottish journalists.
