Was always going to happen, wasn’t it? After Alexandro Bernabei signed for Celtic last week in a £3.75m move, the link to another Argentinian wasn’t too long in popping up.
Now it seems the club have linked to another u23 international in Faust Vera.
Vera is a 22-year-old defensive midfielder for Argentinos Juniors.
According to Latin Tribun via the Daily Record, Celtic could face stiff competition from Belgium as Genk have seemingly submitted a €6m bid already.
With an average Sofa Score rating of 7.17 last season, Vera is a consistent performer in the middle of the park.
With a tackling success rate of just 50%, there is some work still needing done on his defensive side of the game but he does have an overall passing success rate of 83%.
One worrying stat on Vera’s game is he loses possession all too often which he may get away with in Scotland, but as Ange wants to build a side capable of holding their own in the Champions League, that is a weakness that would need to be seriously worked on in my opinion.
Vera is within Celtic’s transfer budget but for that kind of money, I would be looking for a more accomplished midfielder rather than what looks like a project player.
