Forgotten Hoops starlet, Manny Perez, has been speaking of his desire to finally get a work permit secured so that he can get his Celtic career off the ground, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The USA Under-20 international signed shortly before Brendan Rodgers’s departure in January 2019 but  has yet to pull on the famous green and white shirt and when asked about his current situation following the end of his loan spell with North Carolina, he said:

“If I could get there tomorrow then I would get a flight. It would be a dream come true for me.

“I’m in love with Celtic. We have the best fans in the world. I have a Celtic TV account, so I’ve been keeping up with the games.

“If I can get my permit to go through, we can just move forward from there.

“My agent and I are trying to sort things out, and have been in constant communication with the club.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to work it out soon.

“Our season ended about a week ago, so we’re just trying to get myself over there.”

Perez may find it hard to see any game time if he was to finally make it over, having to compete with Jeremie Frimpong, Hatem Elhamed and James Forrest in his preferred position of right wing-back.

His signing was little more than a punt which appears to be heading in one direction, loan spells in America’s second tier are not going to persuade any work permit panels that he will be at the required level to displace the previously mentioned trio, although if he was given the chance, it certainly won’t be from the lack of effort given the youngster’s obvious desire to make it to the top.
