After months of speculation, it looks as though Mikael Lustig is going to be leaving the club this summer after all – according to the Scotsman.
The full-back has been a loyal servant for many years and during that time he has won all there is to win in this country and several times over at that.
He’s been coming to the end of his time here, though, really and rumours were persisting that at the end of his contract this summer he’d be moving on.
Indeed, it now looks as though that is the case.
The report suggests he’ll be heading back to his native Sweden to play for Malmo and potentially see his career out there – something none of us will begrudge him at all.
It perhaps makes sense for him to move on now, too, rather than sign a new deal just to sit on the bench again next season.
Now, let’s get a replacement.
