Celtic have been utterly dominant under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, and one of the main stars who have helped fortify the Bhoys’ dominance has been Moussa Dembele. Since joining Celtic in 2016, the Frenchman has demonstrated his credentials as a lethal striker, yet rumours have emerged linking him with a move away from Celtic Park.

According to Foot Mercato, Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Moussa Dembele from Celtic. Despite not being as prolific as his debut season with the Bhoys, the 21-year-old scored 16 goals in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season, as Celtic completed the treble.

Without question, Dembele is such a significant member of the Celtic team, and he has arguably been their best player since arriving from Fulham in 2016. In 88 games for the Scottish champions, the former Fulham forward has scored 48 goals, an average of more than one goal every two games.

This record is spectacular, and while considering his age, it’s plausible to anticipate that Dembele will continue to improve and flourish in forthcoming years. With that in mind, it’s vital for Rodgers’ side that they retain the services of their talented forward and build a team around him. If Celtic are going to fortify their domestic dominance, then they must keep Dembele whatever the cost.

Given the quality of Celtic’s squad and the financial superiority of European clubs, it’s always a difficult task for the Bhoys to retain their best players, but in the case of Dembele, it’s vital that he remains at the club.

Celtic have recently broken their transfer record to sign Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain. Dembele and his compatriot, Edouard could form a fruitful partnership at Celtic Park – one that will thrive for many years. Accordingly, they should block all approaches for Dembele.
