Celtic hope to have a new contract for Scott Brown finalised in the next few days amidst growing interest from Australia, according to The Daily Record.

The paper report that Australian agent Lou Sticca is hoping to lure the Hoops captain to Australia on a big money marquee deal, believing he can be part of a new dawn for football in the country.

Celtic though are anxious to get their new deal with the player signed as soon as possible, with The Record reporting it could all be done this week.

Previously the thought of losing Brown had been unthinkable for Celtic fans given his important to the team, but with the player missing through injury over the last few weeks, many are now more relaxed about his long-term future.

It’s still crucial the club sign him up though. We’re not quite ready to say goodbye to him yet and at the top of his game there he is the most important part of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Now 33 years of age, he’s made an incredible 493 appearances for the club and won a shed load of trophies, many of which have come as captain. He’s arguably the club’s best skipper since Billy McNeill.

Hopefully we see a contract announcement this week, as predicted by the Record.
