Here we go again.

The World Cup is yet to kick off and already there are rumours kicking around about Celtic’s representatives in the tournament.

Josip Juranovic has long been linked with a move away from Celtic and in the summer, was reportedly being scouted by English Premier League giants, Manchester United by Fabrizio Romano.

The rumours never amounted to anything but, in truth, they have never really gone away.

With the tournament days away from kick-off, Stephen McGowan has claimed that Celtic are already bracing themselves  and ‘will consider bids’ for the Croatian right back after the tournament.

Writing in the Scottish Daily Mail, McGowan says,  “Following unsuccessful negotiations over a new contract, however, Sportsmail understands that Celtic are now braced for bids after a tournament where the 27-year-old is expected to be first-choice right-back ahead of Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanisic.”

Juranovic has been a mainstay in this Celtic side under Ange Postecoglou. Domestically, he has been dominant but in Europe, he has been found wanting with his positioning being punished on a few occasions as witnessed in games against Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Having said that, Juranovic will be a huge loss as he is clearly a very popular player in the dressing and with the fans.

Luckily, we have a player that is more than ready to step into his position in Tony Ralston should he make the move this winter, but I would hazard a guess that Postecoglou has already pre-planned for this eventuality and will have a replacement for the 27-year-old in mind.

How good is your knowledge of the Martin O’Neill era?
