Celtic turn to £25m man with fierce competition for left-sided Premier League star

|

Celtic have been linked with yet another left-sided player after The Daily Record claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon is a target.

The former Fulham man hasn’t really kicked on since he first rose to prominence and he is likely to see even less game time now that Jose Mourinho has signed Sergio Reguilón from Real Madrid.

Of all the names linked so far the England youth cap would be an ideal fit for Neil Lennon’s side, pace, good on the ball, good end product and knows were the goal is, he is also capable of playing anywhere down the left-hand side without any drop-off in quality.

It’s painfully obvious that the Hoops gaffer is crying out for reinforcements for his left flank given the names that have been mentioned in recent weeks and Sessegnon wouldn’t just be an adequate back-up, he would immediately improve the starting XI – if he is given the chance.

That Spurs paid £25million to land the player is an indication of his potential and if Celtic are to persuade him to head north they will have to do so knowing that they face competition from Premier League sides in the shape of Southampton, Leeds United and Brighton.

At just 20-years old, Sessegnon has plenty of time on his side to develop but he has to be playing games and given the impact that Kieran Tierney has had at Arsenal, heading to Glasgow could just be the grounding that he needs to get his game back on track.
