Celtic won’t be moving for £10m-rated talent this month after reported interest

|

Celtic will not be making a transfer move for Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna during the January window, according to The Daily Record.

The Hoops had a bid rejected for the player last August and rumours have persisted that we could make a renewed effort to bring him to Glasgow this month.

However, The Record say that no new bid has been offered and that the Hoops are willing to monitor the situation over the next few months, without splashing the cash in January.

The paper reckon that Aberdeen still value him as worth £10m if the right buyer comes along, potentially pricing Celtic out of a move for the Scotland international.

With clubs like Aston Villa also said to be interested in the player, it seems increasingly unlikely that he will be playing in green and white anytime soon.

He’s had a decent first half of the season but has shown nothing like the form that would convince supporters that making him our record signing would be a good idea.

We do need defenders though with Dedryck Boyata on the verge of an exit and Filip Benkovic set to return to parent club Leicester City at the end of the season.

Perhaps McKenna will end up being a more realistic target this summer.
