As Celtic continue to make the news in the transfer department, the latest rumour that has hit the club has now reached the Australian media.

Yesterday I reported on an article in The Scotsman that Celtic could be about to try and capture the signing of Martin Boyle from Hibs.

The Australian international has been in sensational form for the Edinburgh side and the reports are that Celtic may have to shell out £3m for the seven capped hitman.

Australian news site FTBL Sport also picked up this story and quoted the Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou speaking about the hitman in October of last year, ”

“I know Martin really well,” with the Celtic manager adding, “I was pretty pleased when he chose to play for Australia because there was a bit of an arm wrestle when it came to who he was going to play for.

Should Celtic sign Martin Boyle from Hibs?

NO

“He’s done really well for the national team so I’m well aware of him. He’s a good player and it’s not easy playing for Australia.

“Unlike other national teams, he’s got to do long-haul travel and getting back to this part of the world isn’t easy. So he’s handled that really well.”

Boyle, undoubtedly, is very talented, but at 28 years old and £3m, this move doesn’t really fit in with the Celtic transfer model so it does remain to be seen if the board would be willing to make such an investment with the prospect of so little financial return.
