Celtic’s latest transfer rumour of Lanus left back, Alexandro Bernabei, being a target for the club was one that the supporters didn’t see coming I would suspect?

We all know we are in the market for a left back but what no one predicted was that we would be shopping in Argentina’s top tier to find one.

It’s a market Celtic have never looked at (to the best of my knowledge) and one that does produce top talents so this could be an exciting find, if the club can get a deal done.

And it seems that an offer has been submitted for the Argentine u23 international.

Valued at just under £3m [Transfermarkt], the Daily Record reports that the Argentinian media channel, TyC Sports calim the club had had an initial offer ‘knocked back’ by Lanus but are willing to sell if the price can be negotiated and improve the terms.

No fee was cited in the report but you would imagine that with Bernabei’s contract not due to expire until 2023, an offer northwards of £3m would be the absolute minimum the club would be looking for.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers now signed on permanently, the fans are looking to the club to make the Jota announcement any day now as the club continues to look to strengthen for next season.
