Where do we start with John Beaton? Deeply distrusted by the Celtic support (for reasons that have already been well documented), the Scottish referee was in action this weekend as Greece took on Kosovo.
And even then, Beaton couldn’t help himself as Celtic podcaster John McGinley points out:

Clearly the tweet was meant to be tongue in cheek but the abuse he received for it from rival fans meant he had to actually come out and qualify it.
But, you know what? It is rather interesting that Giakoumakis has fallen foul of Beatons yellow cards numerous times this (last) season as highlighted by a comment by these Celtic who were not shocked that the whistler had reprimanded the Hoops striker:
