No matter how much Celtic fans, or fair minded pundits for that matter, highlight the simple fact that Kyogo was targeted by defenders on the pitch, off the ball, whatever you want to call it, there are still those that are itching to label him a cheat.
A cheat, or a diver, or simulation, is the act of trying to feign injury or a foul in order to gain an advantage over your opponent.
Kyogo has done none of these. Ever.
He has however, been the victim of two blatant assaults on the pitch and and two unfortunate coming togethers (Aberdeen and Dundee) but not once has he ever claimed for anything or try to gain an advantage.
Davie Provan was speaking on The Go Radio Football Show about Kyogo when he came out with this predictable nonsense and kept the narrative going that somehow the Celtic striker is trying to ‘buy anything of referees’, “Well, first of all you know I’m a fan.
“But I think there have been occasions where he has gone down easily.
“I think Martin Boyle is another player who has a similar reputation.
“And the problem for players when they get a reputation, give a dog a bad name.
“And referees are not going to give them the benefit of the doubt if they go down too easily.
“I think that one, that was Obileye of Livingston, I think he could have stayed on his feet.
“So, I think now it’s been highlighted, I think he’ll be reluctant to try and buy anything off referees.
“But listen, show me a striker who’s not trying to buy something off a referee.”
It looks like this show is determined to allow these opinions to go unchallenged as Vital Celtic has been reporting all week.
I wonder what they’ll talk about now that Kyogo faces a spell on the sidelines.
