Let me get this right. Straight off the bat.
I love Chris Sutton. His punditry is first class.
His analysis of the club? Brilliant.
Holding the board to account for their failings? Absolutely amazing.
Sutton pulls no punches. But tonight he seemed to make a claim on BT Sports that I don’t think was 100% accurate. I don’t want to say an untruth, but it wasn’t exactly accurate.
In my opinion anyway. But if anyone wants to take issue with it then feel free to head to the forum and tell me.
But tonight on BT Sports, Sutton made a claim about the Celtic fans that on first glance seems outrageous, but if you take a minute, seems misguided.
Speaking post match after the Hoops brilliant 3-2 away win against Ferencvaros, Sutton rather strangely said , “There was talk about Ange Postecoglou possibly losing his job.
“I mean, I think before the Aberdeen game Celtic were fans saying well, you know what, don’t win there and Celtic should think about a new manager.
“Really? Come on! A bit of patience at times. And we’re seeing that it’s difficult.”
Seriously? Celtic fans were calling for Postecoglou’s head?
Since when?
I thinks those that where calling for his head was from your profession in the media Chris. Not the fans.
As far as I can see, Ange has the full backing of the Celtic support and not one person has seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY, called for the managers head.
Sutton has, at this time, tried to be too controversial when it wasn’t really required.
After a great three away European points, the sniping should have been left for one night.
But that’s just not our Chris is it?
