As the Celtic squad take a break and enjoy a long awaited, and well deserved holiday, the playing and coaching department get the opportunity to stop.

The recruitment department though never stops. And it seems that as Ange prepares for the new season ahead, a list of targets has already been assembled.

With the transfer speculation hotting up over the last few weeks, a story broke last night of Celtics apparent interest in 19 year old midfielder Ben Crompton from Shrewsbury Town according to The Shropshire Star.

Crompton has rejected the offer of a new deal with the League One club and is regarded as one of the clubs top prospects.

Crompton, clearly, wouldn’t be a first team signing as it seems like the club are looking to strengthen the B team after a number of high profile departures over the last year.

The versatile youngster is described on his clubs website as a “technical player who predominantly plays as a central midfield player but can play as a center back.”

A graduate from the Wolves under 16’s academy, Crompton was released by The Wanderers and joined Shrewsbury u18’s and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the clubs top prospects.

After what seems like a mass exodus of players from Celtic’s youths in the last year, this does look like a good move by the club.
