Celtic are reportedly set to battle it out with a number of clubs for highly rated 20 year old attacking midfielder Dilan Markanday, according to the Evening Standard.

Markanday is a product of the Tottenham youth set up and has been impressing with his goalscoring form.

Playing predominantly as an attacking midfielder, Markanday is effective down both flanks and can also play that number ten role just behind the striker.

With eleven goals in twelve appearances for Spurs youths, and four assists, the 20 year old ha caught the eye of many clubs and it is said that the Hoops look set to battle it out with rivals Rangers along with Championship sides Bournemouth, West Brom and QPR.

Markanday is out of contract in the summer but Tottenham are hopeful of extending his contract with a view to loaning him out to gain valuable first team experience but a permanent move hasn’t been ruled out.

With Celtic looking to bolster their attacking options, it has been evident that, from the bench, quality is lacking.

Celtic’s strength in depth has been lacking in the forward areas and it seems like an area Ange Postecoglou is keen to address as we move into the second half of the season.
