As the transfer speculation hots up with the expected announcement of the arrival of Eddie Howe any day now, the Celtic fans will be looking to next season with a sense of optimism. There will be many incoming players but overall, the Hoop fans do expect some of their top players to also leave in the summer.

However, one man that seems to think that some of the Parkhead players will be leaving on the cheap is ex Rangers boss Alex McLeish. Speaking to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager made a ridiculous prediction on how much money Celtic could command for Norwegian International, Kristoffer Ajer, “Kristoffer Ajer would be a good addition for Newcastle. What sort of fee? Premier League, we’re talking £5-10million.

“I had Jean-Alain Boumsong, got him on a free transfer from Auxerre. He was only with us six, seven months and he went to Newcastle. Rangers made £8million out of him.

“In terms of Ajer, Scandinavia is a great breeding ground. They have some gems in there, some diamonds. Finding those diamonds results in an Ajer. You see how well Scandinavians do in these World Cup groups.

“Good players, players you can trust. When you’re sitting in the technical area watching the field, you know you’ve got guys out there you can trust. The Scandinavians have been a credit to world football.”

There is no doubt the fee will not be as high as Celtic value the 22 year old as he enters the last twelve months of his contract but to suggest that £5m will be enough to tempt Celtic to cash in is absolutely absurd.
