Celtic have many players on loan at various different clubs at the moment but none have been talked about so much as Marian Shved.  The young Ukranian came with a massive reputation of being a skilful and tricky winger, the kind of player that lifts bums off seats as he ghosts past defenders.

Shved arrived for a fee of £2m amid a flurry of press as the then boss, Brendan Rodgers, quiped “we have a million wingers” which led to speculation that Rodgers knew nothing about the arrival of the youngster.

As yet, the Hoops fans have not yet seen enough of Shved as he was quickly shipped out on loan to the Belgian Juliper league side, Mechelen, where after a torrid start and a public dressing down from the Mechelen manager, it seems Shved has turned his season around and aims to return to Celtic in the summer.

Speaking in the Scottish media, Shved opens up on his future and doesn’t seem to know where he will be after his loan deal ends, “At the moment the situation is that I will have to return to Glasgow at the end of the season because I have a contract with Celtic.  What will happen next…I don’t know.  Maybe I will stay at Mechelen, perhaps I will move to another club or maybe I will stay with Celtic.

Should Marian Shved get another chance at Celtic?

“The situation will have to be resolved within the next month or so.  Celtic will have a new manager because they recently fired Neil Lennon. But we don’t know yet who will take his place. Hopefully, I will know soon.

“The important thing for me is whether I will play or not. It’s the same everywhere, no matter what club you are with.  It’s difficult for me to say whether I would adapt better in Scotland now after my time in Belgium.”

There is definitely a player there, that is for sure, but whether he has the temperament to cope with playing for a club with massive expectations remains to be seen. Personally, I think Shved should be given a chance and if Eddie Howe is the next manager, who else but him would be the best man to bring Shved along?
