The Celtic full back position has long been spoken about needing strengthened this transfer  window, or to be more specific, the right back position.

No one an fault the efforts of young Anthony Ralston who, by all accounts, was never deemed good enough to play for the Hoops as successive managers Brendan Rodgers and  Neil Lennon loaned Ralston out to get first team experience.

Under Ange Postecoglou, the Scottish right back has flourished and he seems to have found another level to his game.

That still doesn’t mean the Hoops aren’t desperate to strengthen in that position as Ralston is the only recognised right back at the club.

A lot of the attention these past few days has been in and around the Josip Juranovic story and it did seem that the plug had been pulled on the deal but Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas tweeted this morning:

“Exclusive: #Celtic are turning their attention to Josip Juranovic.

The push to loan Yan Couto from #ManchesterCity came to nothing.

#Legia #Warsaw are ready to listen to their opening bid: skysports.com/transfer-centre”

Just two days ago, Vital Celtic reported that Croatian journalist Ižak Ante Sučić, appearing on Celtic podcast 67 Hail Hail, said that although no one knows the reason why the deal had went cold, he still thought there was a chance it could still go through, “To be honest I think that it’s a fair deal from  Legia. They have their best player and they want to sell him but for a fair amount of money.

“And they know that Celtic is not one of those clubs who can afford anything. So I think that they want something for you to sell him inside that they want to sell him.

“And I wouldn’t say that the deal is off.  I think that there is a still chance that Juranovic will eventually sign for Celtic, but it’s going to take some time.”

So the Celtic fans will be looking and waiting to see if this deal will eventually go through before the transfer window closes, but ideally before the Glasgow Derby on the 29th August.
