You would think with the comments coming from new Rangers boss and his friends in  the Scottish media that Rangers held if not a dominant lead in the league then certainly a commanding position. Some are even going so far as to say it is the Ibrox clubs title to lose as if they only need to win all 3 remaining derby fixtures against us. Only!

While the intention of this sort of positive press is to build up the feel good factor it blatantly ignores three main problems, which it does so at their own peril.

Firstly, their team, well they aren’t very good. I’m not buying the Covid Title where they didn’t have their own fans to buckle under in front of or the run to the Europa League where they lost more games than they won. I’m talking about a team that is ageing, with disharmony in the dressing room and a multitude of players that are set to leave at the end of the year. Can you see Kent or Morelos fighting for every ball in May if they get close to us, risking life and limb before they join another team?

Secondly, in addition to them not being very good. They have no money to improve the squad. Not that this has ever stopped them before from sinking millions into players. Surely now though even the most ardent Rangers fan must be wondering whether to give Ross Wilson anything more than a quid to keep the lights on.

Finally, and most importantly, they are up against one of the most dominant, commanding Celtic teams there has been for quite some time. Who are 9 points clear! Who have already strengthened the squad. Who may very well make another £30 million on one player sale.

Make no mistake, the pressure is firmly on the Ibrox team, one slip up on Thursday and they potentially go 12 points behind before Christmas. No pressure Michael Beale.

Celtic hold the record for most Scottish Cup Final wins. Who scored the winners in these TEN finals?
