One former Celt has issued a “come and get me” plea to Neil Lennon, although after the signing of David Turnbull, that ship may have sailed.

In an interview with The Daily Record, Beram Kayal, has revealed that he would love to return to Parkhead and finish what he helped to start ten years ago.

The 32-year old central midfielder has just left Charlton Athletic and is available on a free contract, although he appreciates that a deal might not be possible it hasn’t stopped him from letting his old gaffer know that he is available:

“Tell Lenny I want to come back! At the moment, I have some interest but I need to wait as clubs are waiting.

“I would like a big challenge and I am open to everything.

“I know Celtic have many midfielders and have just signed one and there is no point in going somewhere when I am not needed.

“But everyone knows I would love to go back to Celtic. It started my career in Europe and it would be amazing to do 10 in a row with Lenny.

Kayal would actually be a decent acquisition should Lennon decide to make the Israeli international’s dream come true, having a player who could rotate with Scott Brown and allow the likes of Callum McGregor, Olivier Ntcham and Turnbull to focus on attacking would make sense, especially if Ismaila Soro isn’t going to be trusted any time soon.

Should Celtic re-sign Kayal?

He was always a classy player and would represent a safe option in midfield, especially if a short term deal could be arranged – having another experienced campaigner who knows what it takes to win in Glasgow would be a welcome addition to “Lenny’s” squad.
