Kris Commons has taken to his column to have a childish swipe at his ex boss, Ronny Deila. Speaking in The Daily Mail, Commons took to criticising Steven Gerrard’s men for once again bottling a major cup fixture in the penalty defeat to St Johnstone last night at Ibrox.

The former Celtic midfielder started off his column well when he derided the very notion that Gerrard’s men be held up in the same esteem as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic when he said, “They were true Invincibles who won every single domestic trophy available to them without losing a game. By definition, something which is invincible is too powerful to be overcome… It simply cannot be defeated.

“You could say that about Rodgers’ Celtic team; you can’t say it about Gerrard’s Rangers.”

Celtic v Rangers is called The........

OLD F*RM

GLASGOW DERBY

Which is 100% absolute fact. I’ve written already tonight about the media’s absurd campaign to compare the both but then Commons went full 360 and completely denigrated not only Deila and Celtic’s achievements but his own as part of the 2104/15 double winning squad went he went on to say, “Gerrard has won one trophy in the space of three seasons. It’s not a particularly great return.

“For goodness’ sake, even Ronny Deila managed to win a Double. In fact, it would have been a Treble had it not been for a horrendous handball decision against Inverness in the Scottish Cup. Clearly, Rangers and Gerrard are not the finished article.”

Now I can get the point Commons is making. Of course I do, but the former Celtic favourite really had no need to diminish those achievements and take a swipe at his former club. But as we have seen like other former players, saying anything positive about your old club just doesn’t sell.
