As Celtic continue their search for reinforcements in the January window, a report has emerged from German media outlet Bild, that claims the Hoops are interested in signing young 22 year old Austrian midfielder Hannes Wolf.

Wolf currently plies his trade in the German Bundesliga for Borrusia Monchengladbach but has only managed eight starts for the German cracks.

Wolf was signed from RB Salzburg for just over £8m in the summer, but due to lack of game time, he is set to be loaned out in January with Celtic being named as one of the clubs set to take a gamble on the playmaker.

The report claims that the Hoops face competition from Turkish Super Liga side Trabzonspor and Austrian’s Rapid Vienna for Wolfe’s signature.

Wolfe started his career at youth level playing for various Austrian clubs.

From 2004-2014, Wolfe appeared for SC Seiersberg, SV Gössendorf, USV Vasoldsberg and JAZ GU-Süd before he won his move to RB Salzburg.

It was with the Austrian club that he incredibly won THREE Austrian titles and the Austrian Cup.

His form earned him his big money move to the German giants but, so far, it hasn’t worked out for him at his new club.

Clearly a winner, Wolfe would be an ideal addition to the Celtic squad to act for cover in the number 10 role and offer Tom Rogic some much needed competition.
