With Celtic looking poised at losing Odsonne Edouard this summer and possibly Leigh Griffiths, the Hoops are increasingly short up front for the start of the new season.

That matters not a jot to former Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie, as he says there is another player that needs to be shown the Parkhead exit regardless of the fee offered for him.

McAvennie says Celtic should cut their losses and “get rid” of Swiss striker Albian Ajeti to free up funds on the wage bill.

In an incredible rant to The Football Insider, McAvennie didn’t hold back on the big Celtic forward, “Lose money on him, they should get him out. They can get money for him but we aren’t in the position to demand a decent fee.

Should Leigh Griffiths be given another chance at Celtic?

“He hasn’t done anything. If they get a £3.5million offer for Klimala, take that for him and get him out the door.

“Take a loss on him, he just needs to go. Get him off the wage bill. I just don’t see a future for him there.”

Quite the verdict and it looks like McAvennie hasn’t thought this one through.

If Ajeti is allowed to leave as Frank clearly wants, who do Celtic start the season with up front? Afolabi?

Letting Ajeti go at this moment and time will only cause Celtic more problems than it will solve. Plus was the Swiss international given a proper chance at Celtic last season to show what he can do?

Celtic cannot afford to start the season striker less, unless McAvennie is looking to pull on his shooting boots again?
