“He might have to stay!” – Ex Celtic striker drops massive transfer hint

|

Ex Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has said that Hoops striker, Odsonne Edouard, could be set to STAY at Celtic beyond the summer. With Celtic valuing the big French U21 striker at around £40m earlier in the season, there has been talk of English Premier League clubs like Leicester and West Ham looking to tempt Celtic’s hand with offers as low as £15m.

With Edouard entering the final year of his contract and having no interest in extending his stay beyond the summer, it looks ever more likely the Celtic board may have to accept a bid lower than they had anticipated.

Speaking to the Football Insider, McAvennie intimates that Celtic would rather lose Edouard for nothing than sell him below the value at which they think he is worth, “I don’t know if Celtic will want to sell him that cheap, that’s the only problem Edouard’s got.

Should Leigh Griffiths get another year at Celtic?

“He might have to stay because Celtic aren’t going to accept a price that’s not reflective of what he’s worth to the club.  It’s nothing to do with the player, Celtic won’t sell him unless the money is right.

“I get that the boy wants to move away but the best way to get a move is to play well on the pitch. He’s been top quality for us and I think he’s got the ability to go all the way to the top, then sometimes I look at him and go ‘what’s the matter with you?”

With Edouard’s current form and seemingly lack of interest on the pitch, it is worth considering whether or not the Celtic fans would WANT Edouard to stay beyond the current season.
