One day, two Hugh Keevins stories.

I make no apologies for that as I know this annoys some Celtic fans but this site has always been about bringing you all news I can find about the club regardless of the source.

And again, this one is from Hugh Keevins on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

Regarded by many football fans as a ‘prophet of doom’ because of his ability to get football predictions so wrong, it does worry me that today, I am reporting on two stories from the journalist that have a positive spin for the club.

First it was his Jota comments, and now Hugh is talking Ange’s contract.

Many fans are desperate to see Ange tied up to a longer term contract, as am I, but Keevins seems to think that there is no need for the worry as he believes the manager is completely happy at the club regardless of his contract length.

On Clyde 1, Keevins said, “I’ve rarely known a man to go from a standing start to a position where he has become an iconic figure within a club in the space of 12 months exactly.

“Ange Postecoglou is a folk hero for the Celtic supporters in that they want to see him happy at Celtic Park.

“But he said towards the end of last season, ”You don’t have to worry about me.

“I think he is extremely happy at Celtic as his family have embraced the city, the country and the club.

“So he’ll be happy whether it’s an extension to his contract, or whether it’s a continuation of the 12 month rolling contract.

“He’ll be perfectly happy.”

And that maybe so, but the club should surely be thinking about protecting their interests here as they did when they tied down Rodgers on a four year deal?

We all know contracts mean nothing in terms of judging a player and managers commitment, but what they do provide is suitable recompense should a club come sniffing for our manager.

And that is what the board should be protecting themselves from.
