At a time where Celtic are losing young players hand over fist to continental and English clubs due to lack of development and playing time, the team at A Celtic State of Mind where discussing the lack of talent coming through the Celtic youth system for the Celtic first team squad and the conversation turned to newly departed loanee, Luca Connell.

Connell, quite clearly, isn’t a product of Celtic’s youth academy but he was purchased with a view to developing and eventually breaking through into the Hoops first team squad.

Connell was purchased for £350,000 at the start of the 2019 season but as yet has still to find his way forward into the Celtic first team set up.

He is currently on loan at Queens Park, where co host of the ACSOM podcast, Declan McConville, says he met the young midfielder and said he is very keen to return to Celtic Park, “I think some times it will work (signing young Scottish talent) like David Turnbull. At times if we are buying young Scottish players there will still be the question as to why Celtic are still not producing young Scottish players is another worry because we have saw how well young Stephen Welsh has come in adapted to his surroundings.

Should Marian Shved get another chance at Celtic?

“We’ve got other guys that are out on loan to various Scottish clubs that could come in. Luca Connell, who I met in the park on Sunday and was very chatty and said that he’s enjoying his time at Queen’s Park and would like to come back and have another go at Celtic”

That certainly is great news for the Celtic support as we have witnessed the loss of the likes of Calvin Miller and potentially losing highly rated Vincent Angelini. Having a youngster wanting to return to play for the Hoops is a welcome change.
