I’ve written about this subject twice now in the last week and the fact that it is STILL being talked about is telling in itself.  The award winning podcast team at A Celtic State of Mind were the next people to talk about ex Celtic defender, Kieran Tierney, and how what exactly his valuation would be in todays current market.

Host, Paul John Dykes, gave a priceless reaction when co host Declan McConville gave his prediction on Tierney’s value.  Dykes asked his team on todays podcast, “What kind of fee are you talking about?  Seriously lads, what kind of fee do you think Arsenal would demand?  I was thinking more 50 million. Is it more than that?”

As McConville gave his valuation,  “I would say about £70-80 million probably for Kieran Tierney now.”

Dykes then interjected, “That’s incredible That is incredible!”

McConville then went on to back up his statement and it is fair to say, his argument is compelling, “In todays market if you think about it in European football.  I would struggle to give you three left backs in world football that are better than him.

“Alphonso Davies is, I watched him last night for Bayern Munich. Marcello is in his mid 30’s. Luke Shaw has had a decent season but Chilwell I don’t think is in Kieran Tierney’s league. I think Kieran Tierney is better than Andrew Robertson so I would really struggle, apart from Alfonso Davies.”

Even at the lower end of the valuation discussion, 15% of £50m is still an amazing £7.5m being pumped into the Celtic Park coffers that will come in handy whether it be now or further down the line when Tierney eventually moves on from The Gunners.
