It’s certainly a name that has not been mentioned at all over all this time. Even when the speculation was rife, and still is, I’ve not seen one fan speak of it and certainly not seen any odds offered by book makers.

Departed Celtic defender, Jeremie Frimpong, has insisted that Celtic may already have their manager right under their noses and has suggested that current captain, Scott Brown, would be the ideal candidate to replace Neil Lennon.

Frimpong recalls his time at Celtic Park with great fondness and tells of how Brown was a massive support to the young Dutchman when he joined the Hoops in 2019.

Speaking to The Scotsman, Frimpong said, “If he wanted to be a manager I feel he’d be a great manager. The way he [Brown] speaks, the way he motivates the players. He knows a lot about the game and has been in it a long time, so he’s experienced. I feel he’d be great.

“When I first came and played my first match he would tell me what I should do, what’s best for me in this position.

“He’d say, ‘Use your ability when you go forward and attack them, you’re the fastest in the league, they won’t catch you’, things like that. Defensively he would tell me as well, about my positioning and that I can’t always rely on my speed.

“If you put yourself in a better position then you don’t even have to use it. He’s more experienced and would give me little things like this, and it really helped, because look at where I am today! I’ll always be grateful.”

Many would be of the opinion that it could be too early to thrust Brown into the Celtic role as he currently has no official coaching experience, but it certainly could be an option for the future.
