John Hartson is the latest ex Celtic player to give his opinion on who should be the next Celtic manager. Hartson was waxing lyrical about the man who he believes should take the Paradise hot seat and suggested that current interim boss, John Kennedy, would need to leave Celtic to cut his teeth in management before he is offered the chance to become the Parkhead No1.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said of his former Welsh compatriot, “I like Mark Hughes as well.  I worked with Mark Hughes with Wales and with three ninth place finishes at Stoke in the Premier League, and we had Barry Ferguson on recently on the show and Barry had Mark Hughes at Blackburn.

“Sparky’s attention to detail, incredible on the opposition, tactically good, brings along Mark Baldwin and Eddie Niedzwiecki.  They come as a team. And they’ve had Man City, QPR and Blackburn.  And again, he is out of a job at the minute.

Would you have John Kennedy as next Celtic manager?

YES

NO

“I agree with Jackie McNamara at the weekend saying John Kennedy will probably need to go away and maybe prove himself and be successful somewhere else, and then maybe have an opportunity to come back in again some time in the in the future. I think a lot of fans would would probably agree with that.”

Hughes was a name put forward a few weeks ago by the A Celtic State of Mind team on their daily podcast and he is one name that has been flitting in and around the managerial rumour mill for a number of weeks. Hughes was also heavily linked to take over from the disastrous Tony Mowbray era before departed manager, Neil Lennon, got the job.
