Hugh Keevins was a harsh critic of the appointment of Ange Postecoglou last summer.

The outspoken pundit is famed for his A.N.G.E. acronym at the start of the season when Celtic had lost to Hearts and been knocked out of the Champions League.

But after yesterdays latest win in the SPFL that took Celtic six points clear at the top of the table, Keevins seemed to suggest that the Celtic manager has proven the Celtic fans wrong with his style of football.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “What I’d like to think is that the Celtic supporters will come on and  praise Ange Postecoglou and every player.

“I cannot do better than to say today was the ultimate vindication of Ange Postecoglou’s philosophy.

“And his players carried out his philosophy to their own physical detriment. They ran themselves into the ground.

“Celtic now have to show resolve against St Johnstone next Saturday. It would be criminal to pass up on what they have done today by dropping anything at home to St Johnstone, the second bottom club.

“So Celtic simply have to maintain what they’ve been doing for most of the season.

“But, today, the ultimate vindication of Ange Postecoglou. And it almost feels cheap to say ‘Angeball’.

“It’s not ‘Angeball’.

“It’s excellent football and a philosophy committed to attack right.”

Vindication? From who? The majority of the Celtic fans were right behind Ange and his footballing style.

The only people Ange will need to feel vindication from is the Scottish media who have, up until a few months ago, treated the Celtic boss with disdain and derision.

They, along with Hugh, piled the pressure on the Celtic manager at the start of his rebuild and claimed back in October that the league was over.

The hypocrisy of Keevins statement and attempt to claim that the Celtic boss is somehow now cleared in the eyes of the Celtic fans is extremely disingenuous.

Remember this delusional old was saying Celtic were about to appoint Arturo Jorge as manager as Martin O’Neill was handed a scarf to hold up outside Celtic Park. He gets very little right and then it is only luck when he does. Should have retired years ago.

Never been a journalist in his life, just trying to cover his backside for his early season predictions.

Auld doddery Spew Heavins wouldn’t get a gig in Dad’s Army.

A no talent no mark who gets paid to talk rubbish

Only in Scotland and Scottish Football.
