More often than not, whenever a story breaks from journalist, Stephen McGowan, you can bet your hat on it that there are some legs in it.

McGowan is a well respected sports journalist from The Daily Mail, and whenever he writes about anything football, people sit up and take notice.

That is why when I heard him on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, this little nugget of information pricked my ears.

Celtic’s transfer speculation has been hotter than a tin roof in July and with the amount of stories and conjecture and lack of foundation, currently doing the rounds, it is difficult to separate fact from fiction.

So when McGowan laid this out on the show, you can probably bet there is something solid behind it, “If we’ve seen anything from Ange Postecoglou, it’s he can pull a rabbit from a hat.

“Nobody saw Kyogo Furuhashi coming in. Nobody had heard of Reo Hatate who looks like he’s going to be first signing in January.”

When pressed by host, Gordon Duncan, if he thought that transfer is going to go through, the journalist said, “I do. I really do. I think there’s gonna be a couple of players coming in from Japan in January.

“And you know he knows markets that we don’t know. He may have some ideas. He doesn’t seem to be, I don’t know this for a fact, he doesn’t seem to be encouraging an idea of a Director of Football.

“Still haven’t a pointed a Head of Recruitment, and I’m sure that will come.

“But it looks to all intents and purposes at the minute is that the transfers are on Ange Postecoglou and if that is the case, who knows what he’s got up his sleeve.”

And that is why the Celtic supporters are looking forward to the January window.

No one knows exactly what Ange’s knowledge is of players in the eastern market.

If they are anything like Kyogo, we are in for one helluva transfer window.
