As you all know, I am a really big fan of podcasts not on the main stream media, but the guys at YouTube Channel PLZ Soccer- The Football Show, hosted by Peter Martin and Alan Rough, are fast becoming my favourite’s to listen to by far. The relaxed banter and chat with their guests really immerses you into the programme.
On today’s show, Peter and guest, Tam McManus, were chatting about the interview principal shareholder, Dermot Desmond, gave to Celtic TV yesterday and very quickly the conversation turned to the next Celtic manager.
Martin was very assured in his assertion that the deal for the new manager has been done and that budgets and playing staff had already been discussed with the new Hoops boss, “I think he’s got his man. I think he knows who he is. I know the way he operates, how they make the call.

“He meets up with them, or in this case he’ll have a call with them, and they’ll have done the deal to say this is what you’re getting. This is what we’re going to give you as a budget. Here are the players that are going out. Here is the kitty. This is the remit. This is what you have to do.
“You know he’s done that on countless occasions. The only thing I would say is sometimes the train stops at the station and Celtic get lucky with a really good manager as they did in 2000 when they got Martin O’Neill”
Although Peter didn’t allude to who the new manager, he is extremely familiar with the inner workings of Celtic Park and he was undeniably confident that Desmond has his man. If true, the next few weeks could be extremely interesting for the Celtic supporters.
