So as it seems the move for Riley McGree is off, the Hoops seem to have already been doing their homework on who to find as a natural replacement for the Australian international.

With just over two weeks left of the transfer window, there is plenty of time for Ange Postecoglou to get in that dynamic midfield man he seems to be craving.

Reports emerged [The Sun] of Celtic looking to bolster the middle of the park with the signing of Ahmed Kendouci.

Kendouci is an Algerian international with just one cap, but wasn’t called up for the recent African Cup of Nations.

At just 22 years old, the attacking midfielder is said to be valued at £1m and has scored three goals in fourteen appearances for his club.

Kendouci plays for ES Setif and his club are just two points of the top of the table and the news of the Hoops interest has sparked an unhappy reaction from his manager, Nabil Kouki, “Last season, we missed out on the title because we sold important players in the transfer window. I very much hope and expect that it won’t happen this time.

“The board of this club must make a statement that we should keep our best players and indeed, strengthen the squad.

“So I very much hope Ahmed Kendouci remains with the club despite the recent speculation.”

So it seems if Celtic’s interest is real, and according to this report it seems it is, the club to face a fight on their hands to get their man.
