This was a rumour that set Celtic blogging world alight yesterday. An apparent £7m bid for Besiktas French right back, Valentin Rosier had been submitted and amid interest from other parties, the bid was made officially and it seems Celtic were just waiting on an answer from the Turkish club.

The defender spent a season on loan at Sporting Lisbon and fully expects to leave Besiktas in the summer but, strangely, when spoken to about the interest, the Frenchman didn’t mention the fact that Celtic had made the offer, “The rumour of an arrival at OM? I saw that. I was surprised, pleasantly surprised. After I don’t know, my agents are busy.

Should Leigh Griffiths be given another chance at Celtic?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“Could OM please me? Yes. It remains one of the biggest clubs in France. Can you refuse OM? I don’t think so.”

So it seems that either one of two things are going on here. That an offer was not made and the source of the information is incorrect, or that Rosier knows about Celtic’s bid but has blatantly body swerved mentioning the Hoops simply because he has no interest in a move to Scotland.

Both scenarios do not bode well for the Parkhead club especially as the same source of the original exclusive has now released information that Spartak Moscow have now made a €4m bid for the right back within the last hour:

Whatever is happening it is abundantly clear that Celtic will have their work cut out to persuade the Frenchman to snub the mega rich offer from the Russians or the chance to return to his homeland with Marseille.
