“I’d love to have him as part of the club” – If Postecoglou wants him, let him have him

The performance today was sublime. Brilliant to watch and to be honest, it was a performance of old. Not the Celtic team, but Ryan Christie.

Now, I am not diminishing the whole teams performance. Far from it because to a man, they were excellent. Kyogo, Abada, McGregor and, dare I say it, Ralston where all brilliant today in a polished performance which will leave our rivals, and the media, wondering just who Postecoglou is.

But enough of that. I’ll get to Postecoglou later for one reason. As good as that performance was, it was just one performance. Just like I didn’t get carried away with the loss to Hearts, I’m certainly not going to get carried away to a win against a team who’s defence had bigger spaces than Charlie Adam’s teeth.

But one man I will get carried away with is Ryan Christie. His performances over the last few games have been excellent. Full of running, bursting a gut, chasing down every ball, creating goals and scoring goals.

It’s like we have a new player on our hands. And Ange wants to keep him.

If you had asked me three months ago, hell if you had asked any Celtic fan three months ago, I would hazard a guess that the majority would have been glad to see the back of him. Not now though. And Ange wants to keep him.

Let Ange keep him. On the evidence of pre season and the first few fixtures of the new campaign, get him signed up. Double his wages, four year deal, let Ange work with him and let’s see what he can deliver.

Speaking in todays post match interview, Ange said,  “He’s been good in every game to be fair.

“His performances have been excellent, he’s training well and he’s enjoying his football.

“I don’t think I need to twist his arm. I’ve already said that if this doesn’t convince him, I don’t think anything can.

“I think they are more questions for Ryan than me. I’d love to have him as part of the club.

“All I can do is treat people as I have seen them – and he has been fantastic from the moment I’ve come into the place.

“With the way he’s training and the way he’s playing his football, he’s a fantastic footballer.

“He suits the way I want to play. But I’m not the master of his future, that’s in his hands.”
