What a day for the Celtic team, fans and Ange Postecoglou. A fine 6-0 home win for the Bhoys on Postecoglou’s home debut has shown the supporters the type of football that will be on show at Celtic Park this season.

And by God! Are we in for a treat.

Bearing in mind this win was pretty much done and dusted without James McCarthy in the squad and with two of the Hoops most attacking players on the bench in James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard, there is much to look forward to for the fans this season.

At least now Celtic supporters do not need to fear the inevitable departure of Odsonne Edouard as new boys Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi will look to take over the goal scoring duties as soon as the Frenchman seals a deal to leave Paradise.

And it seems that day will not be too far off as journalist Mark Guidi (speaking on Go Radio), reckons that with Postecoglou dropping Edouard to the bench for last Thursday’s Europa League tie, the writing is now on the wall for the big striker, “Odsonne Edouard was was left out (against Jablonec) and Celtic managed to thrive without him. It’s probably now accelerated the process and him leaving the club which probably should have happened a while ago.

“But it’s happening now, you try and get as much as you can for him and then go and reinvest.

“And I’ve said, possibly three strikers needed, but at least two.

“And I’ll say it about the striker like I said about the goalkeeper situation.

“If the right striker is out there at seven, eight, nine million quid, if you are getting whatever for Edouard between sixteen and twenty million, go invest 50% of that in your next striker. Because that’s what Edouard cost, and you get that quality.

“They don’t grow on trees. But that’s what your scouting network is there for.”

Rumours continue to persist that Edouard is about to make his move to Brighton in the coming days and it looks like that move will not be too catastrophic for the Hoops going by the early form of Abada and Kyogo.
