Celtic’s recruitment policy this season has been first class.

There is no question of that.

And there is one man responsible for a transfer policy that has made sure that the Hoops are still in the running to complete an unexpected domestic treble this season.

With Ange Postecoglou overturning a 25 point deficit into a three point lead at the top of the table, that is testament alone to the job the Australian has done at Celtic so far this season.

But there is a position at Celtic that requires attention because if the mainstay of Joe Hart gets injured at any point, the lack of quality of cover could present a real problem for the Hoops moving forward.

Yes, I realise that Scott Bain was offered an extended contract this season but his lack of game time, even in the early rounds of cup competitions, tell us that he is not exactly trusted enough by Ange Postecoglou.

So Chris Sutton has the solution. Benji Siegrest of Dundee United. Speaking on Premier Sports, Sutton said, “If I’m Celtic I go out and buy him at the end of the season as back up.

“I really like him. He’s had a number of seasons at Dundee United now.

“I think he is a brilliant goalkeeper,”

And he is right. On the night, Siegrest didn’t have the best of games but overall, he is a very consistent goalkeeper and has played out of his skin against us.

He would be a very able back up to Joe Hart and would offer that option of trust between the sticks should Ange Postecoglou be of a mind to rest the veteran former England keeper.
