What is it with these pundits in the Scottish media? What is it that has them so desperately wanting to put pressure on Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou?

And what is the constant obsession with labelling the Celtic fans as those that will be responsible for his sacking if results don’t start to pick up?

I mean, we are only three competitive games into the season and Postecoglou has nothing that resembles a back four never mind a first team and the media knives are already entrenched into the Hoops gaffers back.

The narrative currently spewing out of the SMSM is appalling when they know, and more to the point every single Celtic fan knows, that this team right now is not Postecoglou’s and until it is, the big Aussie will enjoy the absolute backing of the supporters.

But not according to the “pundits” in the Scottish media. It was Kris Boyd’s turn yesterday, alongside that non entity of Scottish football knowledge Gabby Agbonlahor, now it’s the turn of Hugh Keevins.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins (although not quite as blatant as the previous two mentioned), subtly implied  that the fans will start turning on the manager if results don’t start turning straight away,  “I’m giving you the worst case scenario with you. IF you have departed that phase of the Europa League by failing to beat a team from the Czech Republic, IF you have lost to Hearts in the Betfred Cup. IF you are defeated by Rangers at Ibrox and who knows what else.

“It’s not fair on Ange Postecoglou because he has been let down by the people who have employed him.

“However, everyone always says, this city is unlike any other.

“And they see that for a reason because all the high minded notions about patience and fairness will fly out the window unless Ange Postecoglou starts getting positive results and quickly.

For a man who consistently claims he doesn’t deal in ifs and buts, that was a hell of a scenario he painted there back up his non existent argument to insinuate that Celtic fans will turn on the manager.

And I’ll tell you something else. What if Ange WINS all those games Hugh mentions? Will Celtic fans claim that Ange is the best thing since sliced bread?

Of course they won’t because balance and perspective is important.

As much as it is crucial the manager is given time, it’s just as crucial not to get carried away after a few good results.
