This move was the talk of the town for over the last month or so.

Yuki Kobayashi was heavily linked to a move to Celtic and today the club announced a spectacular five-year deal has been signed by the Japanese defender.

Kobayashi was speaking on the club website when he said, “I am so excited to be joining Celtic and I am really looking forward to this wonderful opportunity.

“I will be giving everything to try and be successful with the Club.

“Right across the world, everyone knows what a special club Celtic is and it will be a real honour to wear this fantastic jersey.”

Ange Postecoglou has been true to his word. Planning for additions has clearly been underway for some time in the upcoming window and announcing Kobayashi a full six weeks before the transfer window is even opened is a real statement of intent from the Celtic gaffer.

Celtic’s FIFTH Japanese signing this year, Kobayashi joins us from Vissel Kobe and will team up with former teammate Kyogo Furuhashi at Paradise to help continue the club’s defence of their title this season.

No doubt there will be more activity in the coming months and Celtic fans will be, rightly, excited at this announcement.
